In Pursuit of Happiness

This is what Mark Twain said, “The best way to cheer yourself up is to try to cheer somebody else up”.

Who does not want to be happy in this world healing from so many catastrophes?

When Zhang Yiming, introduced the world to TikTok, little he must have known that it will bring out masses of talent on a single platform, that it will make many come out of their cocoon, that it will make people from every race, caste and creed popular without any discriminations, that it will make the bonding between friends and family stronger, that it will spread laughter and joy in the world and that it will slowly-magically heal the planet with all its amazing positivity.

TikTok was launched in the international market in September 2017. On 23 January 2018, the TikTok app ranked No.1 in several countries. When intentions are good, the bliss multiplies.

TikTok has been trending these days and age never had any bar, isn’t it? It has become the world’s sensational app for crafting and sharing TikTok videos very smoothly on several devices. Being super, user-friendly millions of people can make incredible, fun and jaw-dropping short videos of themselves which often features music in the background, wherein the speed can be adjusted. We can also add our own sound on top of the background music. It also comes with various filters, stickers, backgrounds, the mammoth music library, dialogues, world updates/news, campaigning for justice, everything is just endless. As a matter of fact, it is a new discovery daily and we look forward to trying the novel challenges making us bouncier and cheerier.

You may ask, why in the world, TikTok?

I would say, God blesses each one of us with some talents, unique to their individual style but not everyone can present it globally, many a time, not even amongst their friends’ circle. There can be many shortcomings – financially, physically, and even psychologically. I have been surprised by many of my introvert, shy friends who have blossomed through TikTok and are unbelievably full of charm and attitude. It is an ocean of various talents and every video is influential.

Brother-Sister dancer duo, Sanatan and Savitri Mahato from a remote village in Jharkhand rose to fame through this app and they are the current media favourite from our country. When the entertainment industry runs on nepotism, TikTok gives a million opportunities to the laymen.

The icing on the cake however is,  TikTok announced a "family safety mode" in February 2020 for parents to guard their children's digital wellbeing. There is a screen time management preference, ‘restricted mode’ which can also put a limit on all direct messages.

Everyone has a hidden tiktoker because we are beautifully created in God’s image and likeness. TikTok directives are all about reaching out to each soul and giving a new outlook to their lives.

So, ready to become a happy-go-lucky TikToker?

  1. Though I've personally never tik-toked (not due to shyness)< I get how the app helps out a lot of introverts who would have otherwise shyed away from showing their face on social media. The cristism sometimes on the app is totally baseless. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this. <3
