More than Cookies and Coffee! - Part 3

She never enjoyed visiting the markets or conflicting with the vendors. Firstly because she never trailed the price drill, secondly because she never understood the vendor slang and lastly because she didn't know the tricks of trade and ended up buying the most useless things.

But that day was special, she went an extra mile and visited the market because he loved fish, he loved chicken, he loved everything she made out of love… doesn’t love make the world go round? It absolutely does, so one fine day, she put on her market clothes, her market footwear and how could she forget to not put on the bargaining market face and get hold of some herbies-freebies.

Off she went with a skip and a bounce, round and round… hunting for the most exotic fish without the faintest knowledge, hounding for the juiciest meat without the haziest expertise and rummaging for varied spices but thankfully with awareness.

Being a single woman, she hardly cooked for herself and mostly relied on takeaways and tiffin services. She took delight in baking. Her cakes and cookies were admired in the neighbourhood. She supplied her delicacies to a couple of bakeries too.

As soon as the market racquet was through, she fled home to the comfort of her contentment. The biting cold froze her fingers, weather looked grey but the frail lady couldn’t control the childlike excitement to meet her special one and spend the entire evening with him.

They both had connected when they were between a rock and a hard place and found solace in each other's company. The meeting had changed their lives forever, nothing was the same again.

Her preparedness for the evening bloomed with every ingredient she added in the progressing delicacies. Her dainty little kitchen was full of luscious food and the aroma of every spice filled the whole place.

So many of us are like her, we tend to go overboard in our preparations and a million times with love too. Isn’t it okay…as long as it is love. When is love enough for anyone?

Never, is what I always say.

They were soulmates, they could read between lines and had an uncanny telepathy. They met late in their lives but they discovered the most beautiful feelings in their little world.

The universe had brought them closer, they were meant to meet, it was supposed to happen. It was fantastically deep, beyond beautiful and heart-rending part of their lives.

Of course it frightened them to the core but also fulfilled their undreamt happiness.

Finally, there was a soft knock… she stood-up, opened the door and saw him with his most charming smile. She was already electrified with his presence so much to the extent that she didn’t even hear the microwave go beep. They were soaked in each other's eyes and for a moment everything was standstill. He pulled her closer, filled her with butterfly kisses, her giggle made him go weak in his knees and they were in their paradise where only glorious food, fine wine, mushy sweet-nothings and love existed.

Yet again the pillows fell, sheets crumbled, hearts beats raced and they became one. Their souls weaved to the rhythm of their energies.

Indeed, love makes the world go round, rather, topsy-turvy but what's life without a little bit of craziness anyway...
